The Vijay starrer, Shankar directed Nanban ran into trouble with the film's screening in Salem city had to be stopped over protests by the India Jananayaga Katchi. The protestors not only staged a protest but also resorted to stone pelting following which the screening had to be stalled. According to the IJK, certain scenes in the film show their leader in bad light and these scenes have to be deleted immediately. Reacting to these protests, the Theatre Owners' Association, in a press release, said that if the stone pelting on theatres continued, they would stop screening films until safety is ensured. |
